To gather more information about current practice, ask teachers to use the self-assessment tool to reflect on their current practices related to gradual release of responsibility (e.g., modeling, guided practice, and supporting independent use of strategies).

Hand out the sample materials related to each classroom example as a resource for teachers. Lead a discussion of the practices teachers observed and encourage them to make connections to their own teaching.
